Sometimes you just have to learn how to pick your battles...
Pictured above is what I would like to call... a weak moment. So for those of you that know Mike he's your typical (gross) outdoors man... he loves to go out and get dirty. Whether it be fishing, working on cars or just being a guy... I think he is overall just pretty gross. and I say that with all the love I have to give. I however am the exact opposite. I'm squeamish. and a germaphobe. I don't care for dirt or any similar substance. Anything that isn't cute and fuzzy and capable of smelling clean... I don't care for either. So this thing... that is now sitting in my living room... is rather scary and unknown to me... I know its friendly... I know it doesn't bite... but I still don't want anything to do with it... I haven't even touched it. In fact... while Mike was cleaning and setting up the tank I had a razor blade in my hand taunting the stupid little thing that was "bathing" in some water at the time and all he did was tilt his head side to side as if he was mocking me. Of course I wouldn't actually cause any physical harm to the stupid little thing... I just want him to know who is boss around here... and that he is only here because I was feeling "nice" at the time I was being begged to allow him into my home... I am 100% content with my 3 fluffy little dogs... (even if bria has a severe lack of hair now due to a major haircut mishap earlier this week). BUT! a couple weeks ago I thought it might be "fun" to get a couple birds since I had a huge open corner in my living room that I wanted to "fill" my first suggestion was one of those nifty little fake trees... which got me a quick dirty look and a "hell no" response. Apparently Mike has a severe dislike for the things... which sucks, I'm quite fond of them... kinda. So then I was thinking, man this sucks my fish tanks would've been PERFECT to fill in the empty space... but then I quickly realized that I spent nearly 1,000 setting up my fish tanks in my old house only to have them all stolen.. so that was a huge discouragement... so, I was stumped. I stumbled across a picture of a parakeet and I thought... hmm that might be fun! I grew up with a parakeet... and I guess I spaced off all the bad memories because I recall only the times that I sat in the play room coloring pictures and singing songs and having my little parakeet chirping happily in the background. So I convinced Mike to let me get a pair of parakeets. Which quickly turned into 3 when the breeder we purchased them from decided to put a 3rd bird into our cage... within minutes of being home my freshly swept and mopped floors were covered in seeds and feathers that I struggled to chase with a broom. And shortly after that I realized, CRAP! I'm allergic to these stupid messy things... so I said goodbye to my loud extremely messy and evil birds (surely anything that makes me THAT miserable with allergies must be evil!) so I ended up selling these birds for a lot more than I paid... hey thanks craigslist ;) money wasn't the issue... I just wanted them to be loved. So I found a bird lady and she quickly came to take them under her wing. So this little light bulb popped above Mikes head because for the past 3 weeks he's been dragging me in and out of various pet stores to drool over reptiles... he's like a little kid in a toy store... and as cute as it is... I couldn't help to feel myself start to cave. and now... I sit and look at this sleeping lizard. I caved in. I let him win. and now we have a lizard, which doesn't bother me I guess... just as long as the tanks clean, and everything else is taken care of because surely I wont be touching that stupid little thing. I guess I decided that some battles aren't worth fighting over... he's never told me "no" and "no" seems to be my favorite word... so I was nice, for once, but that ends now. He's just lucky that this stupid lizard actually looks kind of cool and adds a conversation piece to my living room. ;)
and if I might add... my stupid corner STILL isn't filled.. go figure.
